《相约星期二》读后感100字
Brief languages deliver great wisdom of living.
The book tells the last “lecture” of a professor who is on his last great journey to death. It reminds me of my grandmother’s last days. It was harsh and painful. I was by her side, helplessly watching her letting herself go. She gracefully faced, accepted, and passed her last journey. She did it and set herself an excellent example. I remembered that when I burst into tears in her arms, she told me not to cry, as death is natural and inevitable and we must all learn to say goodbye. Despite ups and downs in her life, she always managed to make peace with living. My grandmother is not an academic professor; she is yet a professor of living. I miss you, coach. Death ends your life, not our love.
This book also reminds me of the book called THE MIRACLE OF MINDFULNESS 《正念的奇迹》(一行禅师). They share, in some ways, the same views on focus of one’s innermost being -- each moment holds within it an opportunity to work toward greater self-understanding and peacefulness.
Here are some quotes from the book:
“People see me as a bridge. I'm not as alive as I used to be, but I'm not yet dead. I'm sort of … in-between … I'm on the last great journey here—and people want me to tell them what to pack.”
“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.”
“Well, for one thing, the culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. We're teaching the wrong things. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it. Create your own. Most people can't do it. They're more unhappy than me—even in my current condition. ”
“Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.”
“I don't want to leave the world in a state of fright. I want to know what's happening, accept it, get to a peace-ful place, and let go.”
“Make peace. You need to make peace with yourself and everyone around you.”
“Make peace with living.”
"It's natural to die.The fact that we make such a big hullabaloo over it is all because we don't see ourselves as part of nature. We think because we're human we're something above nature."
“Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
“There is no such thing as "too late" in life.”
